A Communicative Grammar of English
Contents
A Communicative Grammar Of English is an English grammar book which employs an innovative approach, clear in explanations and reliable in coverage. Instead of using the structural approach, a communicative approach is employed in this book to learn English grammar. The contents of the book have been divided into three parts. Part 1 guides readers on how to use the book and the way grammar varies with different types of English: formal, informal, spoken and written. Part 2 encompasses the use grammar and occupies a chunk of the book. It presents grammar through the eyes of the communicator and focuses on the usage rather than the grammatical structure. Part 3, A-Z in English Grammar, is an alphabetically-arranged guide to English grammar. The book also includes real examples from corpus data and the examples and explanations have been made simpler. The book lays greater emphasis on spoken-language grammar and strikes a good balance between written and spoken English.
